A Happy, Single Valentine’s Day

Your relationship status can make or break Valentine’s Day.  If you’re single, it can be one of the most dreadful days of the year. You can certainly pretend as though the day is like any other, but let’s face it, social media will not allow it.  And let’s not ignore the fact that every store will be pushing hearts and flowers the second you walk through the sliding doors. Unless you plan on disconnecting and staying indoors from now until February 14th, I suggest you peruse of the following tips for a happy, single Valentine’s Day.  Beat the loneliness on Valentine’s Day and enjoy it along with everyone else single and all.

Valentine’s Day with Buddies

Chances are, you aren’t the only one who might find themselves alone on Valentine’s Day.  Contact a platonic friend and agree to do something fun on Valentine’s Day.  If you have a group of single buddies, the more the merrier.  You could even arrange a stay-in movie and/or game board night at your place. Cooking for your friends or ordering take-out is a great way to avoid the Valentine’s Day dinner crowd as well.

Start Something New

If you have no one to spend Valentine’s Day with or don’t feel like going out to spend money somewhere, consider starting a new project.  Have you been thinking about writing a novel and not gotten around to it, or have you wanted to fix up your back room, for example? Today is the perfect day to start on your projects. Not only will you be distracted from being lonely, but you’ll also accomplish something you may not have otherwise.

Be Your Valentine

If you don’t have a special Valentine in your life, be your own.  Love yourself on Valentine’s Day by getting a massage or pampering yourself at a spa. Perhaps you really love yourself and you want to give yourself a gift that sparkles.

Be Your Valentine

Spread the Love to the Ones You Love

In many Latin American countries, Valentine’s day is a day for love and friendship.  It allows for folks to spread the love of Valentine’s Day to friends and family in a non-romantic way.  You can absolutely take Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to tell someone you care with a small gift  or card.

Charitable Giving On Valentine’s Day

Let’s get serious for a moment. There are far worse things in this sad world than being single on Valentine’s Day. Volunteering your time to those in need has love written all over it.  Charitable giving on Valentine’s Day will humble you and keep you focused on being a great human being.
